I often wonder if the cats are listening - and judging - the music I play on my stereo. Do they like it? Do they think its crap? Are they just putting up with it as background noise or are they secretly partying to it on the inside?
I guess I’ll never know what the cats really think of Hot Chip or Rihanna - but now I do know they notice music because thanks to Teyus Music, you can now download tracks scientifically developed to appeal to kitties.
We downloaded three pieces yesterday - “Cosmos Air”, “Rusty’s Balled” and “Spook’s Ditty”. I played them through the stereo and the effect was instant. Our two cats were like a couple of teenagers at a music festival - alternatively hyperactive, mesmerised and all in all off their little faces for the entire duration. They loved it! I felt obliged to repeat the playlist for them several times.
The music has purring sound, bird sounds, and melodies at a certain kitty friendly (or kitty crazy) pitch. It was everything a cat audience could want - it turns out.
Note to Teyus Music - you are geniuses!
Now I need to be more careful what I play on Spotify.
