“Riley just recently turned 9 human years old. And in terms of appearance, while we were told he was a miniature dachshund, his legs were a little longer, his torso a little shorter, and his ears a little smaller than what one might expect!”
This was Catherine’s note to me on Riley - I gotta say I loved it instantly (of course!) - I knew Riley and Catherine would rock the shoot.
Catherine contacted me in October for a Christmas calendar for her family starring the abovementioned Riley. Despite Riley being the centre of attention, I love that all his people got involved at his portrait session - a collaboration I absolutely enjoyed - we had so much fun together - with me having more than I probably should (being the professional one you see).
It’s evident from the bond and relationship Riley has with his people - he adores Catherine - there’s so much love and respect - that he knows he’s very much part of this gorgeous family. He lives inside, roams freely and hangs out with everyone at home.
Below a few highlights & a slideshow of these 2 legends I photographed.
I’ve also included Catherine’s account/testimonial and kind words about yours truly - just to confirm it was a pleasure and a hoot,
“Julianna completely exceeded our expectations.
Throughout the entire process she was enthusiastic, creative, hard-working, and patient and the final product is beautiful.
Before we met it was clear that Julianna loves what she does and works very hard. This was particularly apparent when I received her email about shoot recommendations. I live in a suburban area that Julianna wasn’t familiar with and in the 48 hours since we last spoke she had gone to my neighbourhood and searched for places that would photograph well. She then arranged to meet with us before the shoot day, so that Riley (our Dachshund) would feel more familiar with her and so that she could determine what time the sun best lights up our home.
Because of Julianna’s preparation and enthusiasm the day ran smoothly (except for when the model decided to chase a live turkey…but of course Julianna was on the ball and she captured the entire process – including his sheepish expression as he reluctantly returned) and the final product we received is wonderful. In these photos she captured Riley’s quirky disposition and she conveyed the mutual love shared between Riley, me and our family.
At the time of the shoot I also needed to update my headshots for work which she helped me with. Despite specialising in animal photography, these portfolio pictures are fantastic.
If you’re looking to be photographed or to have a loved one photographed, I recommend Julianna. Personally, I can’t wait to work with her again.”
